Rockford Fosgate amplifier help?

Hey I have a RF Punch p 325.1 mono amp hooked up to a single 12" MTX sub. My amp hasn't been working since winter, I checked all the connections and everything is solid, fuses all good, and everything seems to check out except I found rust on the grounding terminal I used on my trunk. I've been able to clean up the grounding wires and am going to use a new screw + washer. I wasn't able to get 100% of the rust off the surface but I figured it should be clean enough to work. My amp still won't turn on, but when I disconnected the ground wires from the car body the amp will power up with the thermal light on. Should I just find another spot to use as a ground, or is it something wrong with my amp?

Where theres rust there was water... water + amp = dead
You may have had your amp in a moist environment
If the amp doesnt turn on and all the connections are solid its obviously busted
But someone on my forum may be able to help you further!
