Reset OS X password without an OS X CD
Step 1. Power on or restart your Mac (should work for any Mac OS X system).
Step 2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime.
(command + s keys on newer Macs)
Step 3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):

mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
Step 4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
But this method will create a new password for your Mac and your original password will lost. And this fools the operating system into believing it has never been started before. This means when you restart the machine, it will take you through the entire setup & registration process all over again. Do not worry, all of your pre-existing data is still available.
