You might have noticed by now that the Google Chrome browser for Android received an update yesterday. One of the things that the update adds is a ‘translation bar’ that will automatically pop up when content on the screen appears in a different language than your default setting.

The update also brings better support for languages that are read from right to left, like Hebrew. Google has also added an experimental data compression service. It works in a similar way that the Opera mini browser works, delivering web pages through its Turbo feature. By compressing the data, it allows you to read web pages faster and in the long run, this should save you some money. That’s always a good thing.
The update also allows the browser to switch to full-screen mode. The update and the app are free downloads and are available from the Google Play Store.
