John Hinckley wanted to kill Reagan because he was in love with Jody Foster's character in the movie Taxi Driver. He wanted to impress Jody Foster.

But I guess it's not surprising that they have ties to the Hinckley's since they also have ties to mass murderer Bin Laden (good friends with the Bin Laden family). There was this idiot by the name John Hinkley who thought it would please Jodie Foster if he shot and killed Ronald Reagen. I don't like Reagen's policies or republicans praise of him and never will but its a sickening thought anybody would wanna assassinate a president when he/she has done no physical harm to that person in his/her life
