Help needed with a Cam choice

Andrews 54H drop in cams. Quiet as a mouse. Big boyz heads $300. Bubs 7 true duals. SERT tuned. 96 HP and 120 TQ. Pulls across the entire rpm range. you give up nothing with the Andrews 54H. 42/45 MPG. I know because I'm running them.

Depends on head work and compression but yes you can do a lot better than what they offer in stock in a 103....

Help needed with a Cam choice

I put in SE204 cams along with 1.725 rockers in my 103. I didn't change head gaskets, and with the stock componants, I figured out I'd be at roughly 190 CCP with those cams, exactly where I wanted to be. (I do have ACR heads.) 9.5 to 9.7 static compression is ideal for the SE204 cams.

SE255 cams like even lower compression. I'd use them in a motor at between 9.2 and 9.5 static, which is lower than most 103 motors will wind up.

RIght now, I think the best alll around cams for the stock 103 motors (as in the Limited) is probably the Woods 6.

If you didn't like the 259e's you probably won't like the 260's much either. A set of Andrews 54's may be something to look at. I run the old SE 251's and they are fine for me but I like to rev more than most and they can be a bit clattery.

Help needed with a Cam choice

I hear alot of good results with the HD 255 cams. My local shop likes them alot, but when something more is needed, they use the Andrews model one "up" from the HD 255 cam. Do not have any personal experiance to speak of, sorry.

Woods has some new 555 cams coming out or you could look at the TW6-6.

I believe FuelMoto will be posting results soon on a dyno run they are planning to test cams on a 103 engine. That may help you so keep an eye out for it.

Help needed with a Cam choice

Bought a 2010 RKC because I knew I could build a better 103 than the stock offering (no offense to those buying the 2011 bikes) I had a great build on my last bike (103) with MCR heads, flat tops, 030 cometic, etc BUT put in 259E cams and really didnt like them.

So, here I am again faced with which cams. I would really like to stick with MOCO offerings so I ask for opins on the 255 or 260 cams. HOWEVER, I do read these threads and see alot of info on Woods and Andrews but don't know anything about the cam choices.

My ride style is shift fast and get to cruise without hitting 6000 rpm. Bikes current set up is: Stage 1, SE AC, SEST, VH true duels with monster ovals. (I do know that the true duals rob low end, but I really wanted them this time) so I know the exhaust set up will not make the most out of the 255's but I am willing to deal with that.

Thank you for your input, knowledge and for not beating me up. I HAVE searched all the threads and look up to find myself reading posts from 2006 on 211 Cams.....

    Peace out
