    Hiya! (:

    My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

I thought of this thread when I heard that he'd died as well. I always thought he played Tom in Four Weddings. Duh!

I doubt that the girls from this background dress any differently from girls you might see anywhere on a night out. Joan worked to provide for herself whether her job was permanent or temporary; I think many other people do the same.

Yeah thats how they used to get the best looking showdogs in the past for Crufts and the like.

Unfortunately the dogs were so inbred and therefore so unbelievably dumb that they could barely stand up or walk in a straight line!

I thought that too, she seemed to be a bit different from the others.

Joan, the girl who worked in a call centre, (ie, has a job outside her community and who was doing well in her job) said that they knew others called them names for the way they dressed but they didn't care because they knew that they got married first. That is good upbringing.
The boys take work where it is already in their field but it is work and they do work and provide for their families and are responsible, unlike many UK people, who neither work or get married. More ambition than many UK residents if you ask me.

this was it. obviously the report doesn't say bare knuckle fighting but everyone in the area knew a fight had been organised at the local working mens club and he died after it.

I for one really enjoyed this programme and could have watched another hour, it made me laugh out loud and I understood their culture a bit more. i really would like to see all occasions, christenings, funerals etc. I think it was facinating as well as thought provoking and I really want to find out how the couples are doing, in particular Joan.

I know someone who's a romany gypsy and she's actually quite nice, in fact you wouldn't know she was one, she talks fairly normally and sounded interested to hear about what I study at university.
