    Yes, it has a factory amp, located to the right of the glove box. The amplifier runs all the speakers, not just the sub. You can use an after-market amp and subwoofer in place of the factory sub. You'll need an amp with a high-level input, or a device called a line-out converter, to make the after-market amp work with the factory audio system.

    or you can disconect your amp and bypass it simply by unhooking the factory amp and hooking the 2 plugs together just cut the plugs off and hook color to color

    Does my 2002 Toyota Avalon XLS with JBL audio system have a built-in Amplifier?

    If so, can I hook up an aftermarket amp and subwoofer instead?
