I like them because they mix calm and hard music in one song.
It's little bit funny because 3 years ago I said I hate growl in metal music. They changed my mind, it's not so bad
My fave albums are Damnation, Watershed, Blackwater Park.
I love The Lotus Eater, Harvest, Closure, Burden ... and probably more but I didn't listen to all discography yet, 4 albums are waiting for me.

I like Atonment cos it has sort of eastern style melodies, also Revirie/ is cool.
Its an ok album, just find it a bit lower in tempo than the older ones. Still has the atmosphere which is good.

He's a Death Metal fan and seems to be exclusively so. What do we really expect? Just another example of a narrow minded metal head.

Great band. Morningrise is probably my favorite album, mainly due to it have To Bid You Farewell and Black Rose Immortal.

What do you think about Ghost Reveries? I think it has it's moments. Ghost of Perdition is a great song.

You say this as if the band merabers sat at a round table and decided that they would adopt prog death as a genre and pour exactly 50% of their efforts into each direction. As soon as you start placing expectations on a band based on a genre-tag, then genres are hindering your enjoyment. Metal fans in particular have problems with this.

i'm ok with screaming in music.. but not ALL the time during the WHOLE song.. then it just gets rather annoying..

lmao. And who exactly is or was ever progressive for OTHER than the sake of being progressive?

Other than that, your summary of Opeth is as terrible as it is false. I understand not liking Opeth, I mean, I have plenty of problems with them, but the idea that they only focus on 'progressive elements' to the neglect of the actual metal and aggression is nonsense and indicates not having listened much to their material.

The first real metal band I ever liked. Their range is amazing and was really my first fascination with them. I like all their albums though Deliverence is definitely my favorite.
