Could a ppi make GERD worse? I take Dexilant, a proton pump inhibitor, for what the doctors think is GERD. But it seems like my acid reflux is worse on the medicine a lot of the time. I'm afraid if I stop taking it I'll get really bad attacks of reflux back, but I just don't know. I'm pretty sure it's fine to just stop taking it and see, but wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I've been on the ppi for 17 days. I eat a very bland non acid diet, stop eating a minimum of 4 hours before bed, and sleep inclined. The other ppis didn't help or caused worse symptoms. I stopped taking the PPI and my heart burn went completely away.
