oh yeah, if you get the Monster make sure it has a fairing if you are planning any freeway rides.

I've never really had any "comfort" issues with any of my Ducs. My first is my 749 and I love it. Then I got my Monster S2r1000 and I couldn't believe how much "fun" the "upright" seating was. It was a totally different feel. Then I got the 1098 and it's ergonomics are different yet again but in keeping with a Superbike. I can ride any of them all day and not be bothered but I use the Monster more as my all-purpose bike and both the 749 and 1098 for more "spirited" canyon runs and track days

I have a Hypermotard and an 1198. the Hyper I use for commuting to work and driving around town. On the highway it needs a windshield for over 75mph, it beats you up pretty bad and the seat in uncomfortable after 100 miles or so. It would need mods for touring.

The 1198 is a slug under 35mph but comes into it's own over 40 on up. I've done 200 miles in a day and felt like I could do more. I have Helibars on it to raise the arm position and like them.

I personally would lean towards the 848, they are nice bikes. I just need the 1198's power to lug my fat, old ass around. haha

Nope. It's as Ducati created it. I thought briefly about putting a windshield on it as we did on my wife's bike but the 848 stirs my soul far more and causes me to WANT to ride and tour where as the 696 is just for driving around the towns and going for short rides.

Patrick- Do you have a fairing on the Monster? I got one for my buddy who said he felt like a parachute when he rode on the freeway. Now he is quite happy

I've got over 15,000 miles of touring on my 848 and all very comfortable. Could I be more comfortable on either of the other 2 bikes.....maybe. I have a 696 and have toured on it but it's lack of wind protection drastically take away from it's more upright position. My longest day on my 848 was 550 miles and wasn't in any pain. My longest day on the 696 was 400 miles and my back and neck and arms were sore from battling with the wind.

Thanks. I think i will scratch off the 848 in the meantime. Any power comparisons from owners of s2r and hypers?

It seems to me that for upright comfort the Hyper would be the go. My S2R1000 is way more comfortable for daily commuting than my 1098 so I would scratch the 848 from your list.

    S2r800 vs hypermotard 1100 vs 848

Hypermotard is probally going to be the most comfortable of the bikes. But then again riding a sport bike is as comfortable as it gest imo.

Which to choose? I will be using it for city rides and touring the country.

I know the 848 seems far off from the other two, but i just love sport bikes and the look of the 848.

Will the 848 match the two others being so much lighter than my previous sport bike and being able to raise the handle bars a little more?

Please help me choose guys. Thanks in advance.
