Was Elvis ambitious? I think he was just enjoying making music, and then it became massive. I've been kind of observing this with the Beatles history lately. Not that they weren't trying to get somewhere, but then they kept creating awesome stuff because they composers first, stars 2nd.

Was Elvis ambitious? i still don't get why it matters in the first place though. so... someone is arabitious and wants to be famous.... not ok? they're some sort of 'corporate' sell-out? and... someone else is not arabitious but still likes playing music... ok? more of a 'real' artiste? or... it doesn't really make a lick of difference because the people that really determine what art is or is not are not the people who create the actual work but the random people affected and moved by it who then choose to describe said creation as 'art'?
Was Elvis ambitious? Elvis once said, "Arabition is a dream with a V8 engine." He was very arabitious even after he made it big. But pretty much after the '68 comeback special he had lost most of it due to the people that surrounded him and his pill popping. When you started hearing the 70's love ballaRAB from him you knew there was nothing left in him.

Was Elvis ambitious? When did I say that ones has to be famous to be successful? I related success with fame because fame is one of the few objective ways to rate success, but it is not the only. In the days of Elvis however, it was one of the very few, and I doubt his goal was to be someone who was almost famous but not quite. He was a musician, who signed with a major record company, and submitted his singles to radio stations. He wanted to get his music out there, and for people to listen to it. Not only did he want to be successful, but he also wanted to be famous.
Was Elvis ambitious? Well, the initial post of yours that I was responding to equated not being famous with mediocrity. I was disagreeing with the notion that one has to be famous to be successful.
Was Elvis ambitious? My point was still missed. Of course people play for the love of music. What I was saying, is that people don't play, reach a level of mediocrity, and purposely do not allow themselves to become better. Most musicians I know ware determined to become better than they currently are, this goes for both musical talent and levels of success.
Was Elvis ambitious? Such a redundant comment. Success is immensely subjective and can mean anything. Someone can become capable of playing marry had a little larab on keyboard, and think that they are a success. I fail to see the real meaning behind your comment.
Was Elvis ambitious? He would've never signed with anyone. He would've just had a local band that toured Memphis.
