Just a second, I messed up. Rayman does have 16:9 support, but Trauma Center doesn't. On the other hand, Rayman has no 480p support, while Trauma Center does. It's on IGN.

As for the digital box, people who are still receiving broadcast over an antenna will either have to get a digital TV, or get a converter that will changed the signal into a format the regular TV can read. I guess there is talk of the US government helping people buy one or two with coupons.

Well that's good to know. I have Rayman and I rented Trauma Center. They're my two favorite games for the Wii right now. I had no idea they didn't have 16:9 support

At least that answers the question of whether or not the game will function properly. I guess i'll pick it up as I had originally planned.

What type of digital cable box are you talking about? Will it be wireless? I have digital cable now but it's still connected via cable wire from outside the house.

Also, it is stupid that the game doesn't have 16:9 support. But I don't think it will stretch the game.

But this won't become a trend. A lot of titles out have 480p 16:9 support. I don't see how one game will start this domino effect.

The only other games I can think that don't have 16:9 are Rayman Raving Rabbids and Trauma Center, and the Virtual Console games of course.

Are you talking about 2008? That's just a switch to digital, not HD.

The government even plans to send two coupons to each household to help pay for a converter box.

Isn't the switch to be done by 2011? Thats still a long time away, and by then most people will have an HDTV.

Finally, someone who understands what i'm trying to say. I'm not crying about it not being in 480p. I don't expect good visuals from the Wii, but i'd at least expect widescreen support so that EVERYONE can play the games properly.

Also, i'm going to laugh when broadcast television makes the switch to HD and people are left screwed. HDTVs aren't a novelty item anymore, a great HDTV can be had for well under $1,000. Widescreen is nothing new either.
