If you want to fry your scalp and lose your hair go ahead and use laundry detergent. If you want to keep your hair and scalp healthy, and keep your hair from falling out, do the smart thing and see a beautician. That is what they get paid for and they know how to do it safely. You get what you pay for.

So, are you saying you have a relaxer and you think detergent will suddenly make your hair natural? No, it's not that easy. Any hair that gets relaxed will never go back to it's natural state. You can either cut if off now and wear a teeny weeny afro or just wait for the hair to grow out and trim off the relaxed ends every six weeks.

I wouldn't use laundry detergent as it really will make your hair feel awful.

If you want to re-dye it a different colour after, I would recommend using this:

I used it yesterday to get the dark colour out of my own hair, and it worked brilliantly, so I could re-dye it. However, I would only really use it if you were going to re-dye after.

Washing hair with Laundry detergent to strip hair colour?

Has anyone done this before? I have dyed black hair and want to lighten it without going to the salon and donating an arm and a leg for them to do it. I have heard laundry detergent works but I am reluctant to try it in case it damages my hair, any feedback on this alternative method?

    Thanks so much
