A question about USA and religious belief

I'm atheist, but pretty much ALL of my frienRAB and family are religious, mostly catholic. Sucks, but yeah, religion is pretty crazy here in the U.S.

A question about USA and religious belief

I don't go to church and I don't believe in a "god" but I believe that we all have a ......... "spirit" inside of us (lacking of a better term). I believe that when we die we are dead, that is it, no after life. And I don't believe that some entity up in the clouRAB is controlling our lives.

My wife goes to a very relaxed church but she goes to it for some relaxation time and a time to reflect.

I laugh at all of the people like Kurt who go to these huge, multi million dollar money making entities that they call "church". They are just cults.

A question about USA and religious belief

She seriously was freaked out by me. and yeah she didn't ask what religion, just assumed i was christian of some kind and that i should be going to church. I late told her i was an agnostic with Pagan leanings and she backed away like i was going to hurt her. The other roomie was similarly religiously inclined but soon figured out that i was a nice person with morals and taht i wasn't going to sacrifice chickens and pour blood on them.

My own cousin (daughter of my crazy missionary aunt) was suprised to find out that I was agnostic because " you are such a good and helpful person, i thought only real christians were nice"

I like how it's not even if you're religious, but if you go to Church. For all she knew, you could have been Jewish.

It's always entertaining to see the reactions though. One roommate in college was Jahova's Witness. When he asked my religion and I told him atheist, he just said "Oh" and smiled nervously at me. He had no idea what to do

Back when facebook was relatively new, I made a group (remeraber when you could make groups? woooooow) titled "Atheists, Agnostics, and Other Such Godless Heathens". I had a girl message me one time saying that she had never met an atheist and wanted to meet one. I agreed and we met for lunch one day so that she could ask me questions about how I live my life, how I came to my decisions, etc. At the end of the lunch she said she was very surprised. Why? Because I seemed like a good person and she didn't think that was possible.

A question about USA and religious belief

Do I believe in a typical god? No of course not. Religion is silly to me. However I do believe there is something out there in the universe that is ALOT more advanced than us.
My parents are luthern and I was raised as a luthern also.
    No your right.

A question about USA and religious belief

When i first went off to college, the first thing my suitemate asked me after my name is if I went to church on sundays. I was taken aback, said no and she looked like i had killed her dog.
