    LOL

if my hair is dyed brunette, would I be able to dye it red without pre-bleaching?

I've dyed my hair brunette a few times now. just a normal shade of dark brunette. not too dark, but not too light. it doesn't really have any reddish or cool or brassy or warm tones either. just plain brunette. in a few months, I'll be going on vacation, and when I come back tan, I think I might want to dye my hair reddish.

I don't want to pre-bleach it though, so I was wondering maybe if I went to sally's and bought a red dye there and mixed it with a 30 or 40 volume developer, if it could get it to a reddish shade.

I'm not trying to go pure red, but more like a burgundy-brown.

do you think it would work?
-I usually wait 3-4 months between coloring hair.
-my hair is naturally a really light brassy brown.
