The southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris. AKA 'the Sookie Stackhouse' series. 9 books. yummy reading.

    The dune series is amazing

James lee Burkes Robicheaux series is my very favorites detective novelist.

Eddie Little (God rest his soul) Another day in paradise and Steel Toes.

I'm so sorry you had to experience Twilight. If you're looking for a good book series to read, try the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix, Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The Mortal Instruments series (can't remember author) and His Dark Materials Trilogy (can't remember author). All excellent series.
