"Jokes and truth are not mutually exclusive"?

"Jokes and Truth are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes, the best jokes are true and the best truths are jokes."

A friend send me this message, and I would have to agree. Sometimes what I think of as true is plain bluff, and what I expect to be jokes are indeed real.

In the context of love for instance, we sometimes believe that a person loves us only to find out he/she really does not care. And sometimes we conceal our real feelings to people we love and use "jokes" as guise, so we won't be too hurt if we find out they don't love us.

It also reminds me of the song "I started a joke."

How about you, what are your thoughts on this quote?
