I swear psychologists are nothing but hacks taking people's money. And the parents should be slapped but not before the kid gets a red hand print stuck on his face too for being a little lying brat. "I have nightmares daddy!" Bullshit. So he swears AND he lies too. Tsk tsk. What are they doing over there in Australia (not to say America is doing any better with our badass kids)

Actually, my comment arose from the fact that American parents/kids are just as bad with their sense of entitlment as elswhere in the West, although I have heard horror stories out of Japan that are similar.

I just hope you're more understanding with your students and allow them to -gasp!-make mistakes without insulting them. Oh, wait, that's right: I guess brilliant Aussies NEVER say the wrong thing. Silly me, I thought stupid people existed everywhere, including Australia.

I think the point may be it's okay if I fuck up my child or not - It is definitely not okay for someone else to fuck up my child. Especially without my permission. Tell the child it not right/nice and we don't use those words at school/in class. Let the parents punish the kid, that's their job isn't it?

Then he'd have a reason to be "traumatised."

Who cares what the kid says. It is just a word. Words only hold as much power as you let them. My only question is if this is such a bad word to use how did the kid learn it in the first place. Mommy? Daddy? Parents would rather have others raise their kids and when it is done to their liking act like these parents.

So, uhhhh...how did the kid know said swear to begin with, hmm? Besides, the teacher did their job, so it's the equivalent of the stocks. In my day, we ate soap for that, which was 100% worse than a letter, or better yet, 100 sentences, heaven forbid. As far as nightmares, yea, we all been there, it's called "Straighten up and fly right". Man, parents these days are wusses.

"If its so traumatizing writing it to his parents, then why was it so easy for him to say in the playground?"

This, to the infinity plus one.
