    Rottnest as in the former island penal colony in Australia? I believe it is some sort of high priced residential development now, and I guess your point (you are fighting the topic so that means you think it should be a student free zone, yes?) could revolve around the idea that the majority of residents want to live quietly and away from the sort of noisy/rowdy behaviour that characterises student area. many of them will have paid a premium to go and live at Rottnest and therefore would expect to have the style of life they choose.

    i am from western australia where rottnest is located so it does make sense.
    rottnest isn't a residential island it's mainly where holidayers go and leavers (year 12s after they finish school) to celebrate....
    someone from aussieland help??
