How does bilingual education negatively affect students' social skills?

Right now all i can think of is how bilingual education can reduce student's learning time with the English language which they need to excel at in order to communicate properly in the U.S., which will keep them behind from other students their age, resulting in being looked down upon or having a lack of confidence in conversing with others in English. I know it's a stretch but what kind of other reasoning do you guys have?
