    Don't know why you would need a tachometer. The only snag I can see is the computer. That's because I don't know anything about them. I drove my 97 Ranger for 7 years with the check engine light on. As far as the mechanical work, I am sure all parts are compatible.

    1 Rear differential gear ratios different (auto v stick)
    2 Flywheel different
    3 Trans Mounting brackets located different (have to drill holes in frame)
    4 Brackets for clutch pedal must be installed (welding required)
    5 Brake pedal must be relocated
    6 Computer and wiring harness different (as you knew)
    7 Drive Shaft different
    Steering Column no. Hole in floor yes

    This is a major undertaking to accomplish even for an experienced Mechanic.

    Question, Is other truck wrecked? If not swap motors and make other truck drivable

    Easiest solution is Junk Yard Transmission with (most have available) 90 day warranty
