Anyone remember a British show about a gardening ogre?

The ogre planted a beautiful seed every day and without fail it would grow into a useful plant that very same afternoon (just before the end of the episode). The seed was always planted in a pot and the pot placed in the centre of a magical tree, which was in the property's extension/greenhouse. The seed always grew into something connected to the episode it appeared in. The ogre was friendly and lived with an owl and had a human friend.

The show aired afternoons on cbbc possibly late 80s/early 90s, it was most likely aimed children aged 4-8 years old.
