Could Philip Rivers really be too old for football?

Let's say last year was his decline. Did you know he was 29 years old last year. Since when do QBs hit the wall at 29?. Most running backs even last longer than that and most QBs last until their late 30s. What is up with his decline in play? Could it really have been Vincent Jackson, LT and Gates in his prime that made Philip Rivers or is something else at work? Eli and Big Ben came out the same year and they are still going strong.
