My 1996 Toyota Camry will not start in the rain, is there something I can spray or dry out?

When it had trouble starting in the rain previously, I would hold the key on and the gas peddle down continuously and it would eventually sputter to life. It is now Spring and the moisture and rain are incessant, also I was on Empty. I put a gallon of gas in and when it dried up a bit it caught and rumbled but would not push through. I can smell gas when I try now but the key turn is weakening and the gas is not catching. Is there anything that I can spray somewhere or use a hair drier on? If it does start will it be a one time deal since it will be rainy and moist for a while? Thank you for you your help and insight.
