Can you practise Martial Arts without any specific equipment?

    Hi Yahoo Answers Community,

I had a question I needed a clarification on, I wanted to learn some basic combat skills such as throwing a jab, upper cut and to condition my body to that of a fighter or an athlete. But I lack the necessary equipment such as a punching bag or a dummy, martial arts gloves and various other needed equipment.

All I have is a small home gym that contains:

    - A wooden floor

    - Set of Dumb Bells (Maximum of 60 Pounds)

    - Lat Pull Down Machine

    - Tread Mill

    - Stationary Bike

    - Ab Crunch Machine

    - Squat Machine

    - Glass Walls

But all these equipment seem merely for fitness purposes rather than anything related to that of Martial Arts. I can download a DVD anytime I want to but is there any way I can work on my punches without joining any club or trainer though I know they are always better than doing it solo.

    Any help would be appreciated.
