Why does the documentary "the story of the US" completely miss out the seven years war? (French & Indian war)?

I recently watched the first episode of the Story of the US. As a Brit who enjoys history and is not adverse to accepting history as it is (i.e. American Independence is not an issue for me!) I noticed that the documentary went straight from settlements by English, Dutch and Pilgrims to the occupation of Boston by redcoats and the tea party. Completely evading the war involving Britain to secure the colonies. Such inaccuracies really grate me and paint the Brits once again as if they appeared from nowhere as invaders. Your thoughts? Typical American inaccurate portrayal or valid omission?
