I understand that the iphone 4s uses both gsm and cdma. But does that mean that i can unlock a sprint or verizon iphone 4s to t-mobile? Or can i only unlock an at&t iphone 4s for tmobile? Thanks for any help :)

Since T-mobile operates under GSM network, You cannot unlock CDMA network enabled mobile phones to work with T-Mobile. If you need to use a T-Mobile SIM card, You need to unlock any other GSM network mobile phones only. For example, You can unlock an AT&T iPhone to use with T-Mobile.
