The right amp for 2 12" rockford fosgate Punch subwofers?

I have an Impala 03 wit some equipment.
has two Kenwood Amplifiers. One is 1000 w 4 chanels Kenwood Exelon for the four inside pioneer speakers.
The otherone is a 1000 w Mono channel Kenwood for my box of 2 12 inches Rockford Fostagate Punch Subs 4 homs dual coiled.
The mono amplifier looks like its damaged and I have to replace it. I am not sure if this is right. because I belive 1000w amp is for the 1000w subs. it sounds great but doesnt sound like those sistems you hear when driving and you dont see which car comes from. You only hear and feel the bass. Everything works ok because also has a capacitor 1.5 farads. So I assume it is good.
Someone has a better idea how to make it sound better? Maybe a 2 channels Amp? Maybe a 1200 w Amp?
