How does ED2K/emule work? (My situation inside)?

My situation is that there is a website that offers hundreds and hundreds of nintendo ds games( i would show u but i am on my iphone...no copy and paste) but it supports ed2k, i know a little about it. I did some research and a website say that companies host fake servers to catch u in the act of stealing. I want to be safe like anyone would. On tge website they got links and that links automatically go to emule and start downloading....the files i want to download are they located on a spasific server or emule goes to/i have to choose a server. How can i download this safely? The website doesnt offer torrents only ed2k. (ill try to find the website as soon as possible)
