My max using usenetserver is ~2.2MB, or 20Mbit.
Someoone probally answered in the OP's questiosn already in these 6 pages, but to download at 6500k (6.5MB) you would need a 60Mbit line. 6554kb/s is a 6.5Mbit connection, not MB (megabyte).

Just changed isp's to bt. Its meant to be a 8meg line but its set at 2 megs but its still only the first day hopefully it will go up.
anyways they give you free access to giganews but its limited to 3 connections and so the most i have got so far is about 250 kbps.
OK, so I'm looking at the speeds that I'm getting from GrabIt, and I'm thinking about how I always hear that with newsgroups, your connection is maximized. Well, since I have a 6.5MB connection, shouldn't I be getting like 6500+ KB/s?
I'm using my ISP's news server BTW.

From my ISP's news server I get anywhere from 50kbps to the 150's on a good day. With the premium news server just under 200kbps. The max download is rated at 384 - so I only get a little over half of that:angry:
FIOS (fiber optics) is coming next year - maybe - so no updgrades to our DSL until then.
384/1.5 isn't so hot.
Get about 800kB/s on my ISP newsserver
im not sur...any idea how to run speed test on linux sdbx?
This is from easynews.nl free beta, but I think they are limiting the speeds because I'm nowhere near maxing out...
