-Bluetooth- A couple of questions?

My parents got me a new phone about a month ago and it has bluetooth on it and the other day one of my friends tried to send me a picture and a little message thingy popped up and said file not supported so then they tried to send me a ringtone and once again a little message thingy popped up and said file not supported. So what do I have to do? Do I have to go to the store and have them activate it or do I need to call my service provider? If you can't tell this is my first phone with bluetooth on it so i"m completely lost...

Provider: Straight talk (Tracfone)
Phone: LG 220C (I think)
Bluetooth Version: 2.1+EDR
Supported profiles on bluetooth: Headset, Handsfree, Object Push, and Phonebook access

If someone could be oh so kind as to explain what all that means to me I would be very grateful.
