If i buy an unlocked phone that uses SIM cards such as a phone from T-Mobile and put my at&t SIM card in it will it work? Also will i be covered under my plan for my warranty and things like my data (internet) plan?

Yes,you will be covered such warranties if you buy an unlocked phone and you can also swap simcards.Only locked mobiles stick to a network.I faced such a problem.Luckily I got an free unlock service from Unlocking4free.com and removed the restriction.
