Samsung Smart TV -- Remote control won't clamp shut?

I dropped my Samsung Smart TV remote control and one of its corners came open. I'm trying to clamp it shut but it appears to be jammed. I tried calling Samsung but they want a bunch of information and I don't feel like jumping through all their hoops today. I want to pry it completely open to see what is not letting it close but I'm scared I'm going to completely break it (the control is my dad's and he doesn't know anything about the incident). How long does it take for Samsung to fix and return the control?
