Getting Myself an Interest/Hobby
Good luck with your new hobbie Weegie, there is nothing more satisfying than making your own furniture. I have made lots around our house including all our kitchen units, fire surround, AV gear cabinets and all made in my garage.
If you decide buy some power tools i highly recommend you purchase a table saw which if used right can save you alot of time and is great for cutting tenons, cross halving and butt joints. Also a cheap router is a must as a nicely finished edge detail makes for a much more professional finish, then if you really want to push the boat out i find my biscuit cutter very useful.
Another tip is if you are repeating a process several times put some effort into making a jig, that way everything enRAB up the same every time.
I got lots of inspiration from the new yankie workshop on discovery its worth a watch.
I look forward to seeing your results

Yeah the NYW programme seems to a firm favourite and I do like it but not seen it in ages, I won't bore you with the details but I have a very limited TV service being streamed from my latptop to TV so cannot get the NYW.
I do plan on getting a table saw and seen this one on screwfix:
Ryobi ETS-1526AL 240V 254mm Table Saw | Screwfix.com
As this seems to be a good one, got good reviews and you fit a router and jigsaw to the table as well so seems to be really good. I am awaiting to see if Screwfix are getting back in stock, hopefully it is not discontinued.
Cheers
