What do you guys think about this boy? Is he a jerk or is that just his sense of humor?

I'm texting this boy and it seems like we both have small crushes on each other. He usually texts me first and talks to me for hours. It's very cute and sometimes even romantic conversations, but we're not crossing the line because we don't want to hurry things to soon. Anyway, today we said good byes and I said:

"Ahhh, wish I could talk to you forever :) but okay, sweet dreams"

and he said:

"you're not the only one who can't get enough of me"

I said:

"Oh... That's good to know I guess..."

him:

"lol!!"

It kinda hurt me, but I did not respond to that. I don't know if he wants me to assume that he was joking when he said "lol!!" but I'm just kinda thinking, what if he has other people texting him! What if he is not as real as I think he was... :(

And if he was joking, is my comment making me dumb cuz I didn't get the joke? Thanks!!!!
