Hi no your blackberry wont work in New york with verizon wirless since it might be locked with some provider in India ..To fix this you have to unlock your blackberry from network lock ..You can easily unlock your blackberry mobile using sites like UnBBlock.com here they render unlock code for all blackberry mobile models at reliable cost ..After unlocking it you can freely use it with any GSM sim in America but can't with cdma sim like verizon,cricket and so on..Since phone unlocked from GSM sim wont accept CDMA sim .
