ive burnt a dvd and put it into the lounge room dvd recorder and it says it cant play it why is this?

you probably don't have the files on the DVD in the correct format. have a look on doom9 website for some "how to" guides

if you are sure the format is correct, check that your stand alone player accepts the type of media you have recorded on [DVD+r or DVD-r]

But exactly what did you burn to your DVD ???

You need some DVD authoring software - that takes your video and converts it to mpeg2 - then packages it into .VOB files with special file names and puts them into correct folders on the DVD so that the player knows where to look for what on the disc and then be able to play it.

Once every thing on the DVD is in the correct Format - correctly named - and in the right folders *most* modern DVD players will play it.
