Ive heard recently about the new Bold 9780 launching with OS6 but is the previous 9700 getting it?

Is the "LOCK KEY" on top of the phone supposed to "TURN OFF" the screen in addition to locking the phone?
mine just locks and was wondering "IF AND HOW" it can be set to turn the screen off.
