You need to listen to more black metal then. Specifically Folk Black Metal like Windir. They are melodic.

And as for RATM having no talent well they did help boost the nu-metal movement, which IMO...

actually the JU noises match the guitar better. i always thought of the bass drum more of a DU DU DU DU.
