    Because its not socially acceptable,

    Everyone can relate to poems
    but not touching little girls/boys
or just craving to smoke some meth.

Honestly you shouldn't be trying to find something to fight for because this was really a stupid question.

We don't frown upon the drug addict, we frown upon the drug and the harm it does to the body and spirit and mind. And just because people get mixed up in harmful activities, doesn't mean that they can't produce something beautiful using their good talents. Often the people in the saddest circumstance can put the sorrow we feel into perfect metaphors that can be interpreted to mean what we want it to say.

Because society decided before we were born that is worth it give up the chance of writing some poetry and living a normal life. Yeah a lot of poets were drug addicts but most of these same people lived horrible lives and died young. Plus I assume that you are a young person and if you read that someone did drugs once or occasionally, that means they were Timothy Leary. It is not that simple. If you really look at the lives of artists, drugs and mental illness got in the way of their creativity not helped it. Jackson Pollock leaps to mind.
