Where can I get nice high res (or close to it) images of places around the world – that are free?

I know I can use istock photo but the amount of images I need it would end up costing a lot of money.

I am making my mom a mothers day book/scrapbook of places to see around the world – I want images of beautiful beaches, sunsets, landmarks, oceans, in the towns of real places with cobblestone ect. In places like – Aruba, Jamaca, Ireland, England, Greenland, Egypt, Hawaii, Bermunda, Barcelona, New York ect.

I need as many as I can get – but I can only find very few through google and bing without people and that are large enough.

Do you know anywhere I can get images like this?
