Ok, so I have listened to Loaded a rather large nuraber of times - it wasn't a one-time-n-trash-it deal, I really really tried with it. And what I can say is that it just never blew me away - I don't think much of it qualifies as particularly remarkable pop/rock at all, and I certainly can't see why anybody would want to rank this as one of the truly best albums of the 1970s.

There is one song on the album that I think is simply great, and that's the McCartneyesque opener "Who Loves The Sun". The rest, though listenable, do little for me.

Where do other people find their love in Loaded?

I'm with you on this one, and I'll go a step further and say that no one on that album (Reed, Cale, or Nico) ever came close to it, with the VU or solo.

Velvet Underground has merabers of GNR in the band. When Axel talked down about the genre the rest of the band must've felt the same way.

Many people consider Velvet Underground to be grung (not me I think there more Post Grunge)

They have merabers of GNR in the band and I consider GNR glam (not sure if this is true though)

And STP stanRAB for Stone Temple Pilots

TVU&Nico is without a doubt their best work... Their self-titled one was decent, and their last 2 albums were enjoyable enough, but they never really topped the masterpiece that they made originally IMO. Maybe it had something to do with Nico being with them.... I don't know, just a thought...

there are some classics on 'Loaded' but it is what it is, Lou Reed pandering to executives and being radio-friendly.

I find that 'Velvet Underground & Nico' is such a personal record to everyone that owns it, every song takes you back to where you were when you first really absorbed it.

    y'better hit her!

I think there's an unwritten law somewhere saying every single Post Punk band from 1980-1983 had to cover All Tomorrow's Parties at some point.

I could probably fill a 10 track compilation album post with just that one song.

    Heretic!

Chelsea Girl is a classic, it's pretty much a VU album.
