    1.Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus

"Essentially, the record finRAB Phoenix doing what they do supremely well – danceable indie-pop with touches of shoegaze guitar and arabient electro."

    see "1901" and "Lasso"

    2.The xx - xx

As it is, with all their knobs set to downbeat, there's something restrained and knowing here that will trouble some newcomers.

    see "Crystalized" and "IslanRAB"

3.The Big Pink - A Brief History of Love

"A Brief History of Love is a dazzlingly good debut, carefully mixing guitars and electronics in densely layered and carefully textured songs."

    see "Velvet"

    Deftones - Adrenaline

I've been enjoying this one the last few days at the gym. Nice and raw.

I pretty much forgot I had this album 'til about 5 minutes ago. Can't remeraber if I ever gave it a listen or not but, either way, I'm in the mood for some northern soul right now, so it'll do.

On that note, anyone who can get me a link to the Wigan Casino volume of of the Northern Soul Story compilations can be my new e-BFF.

I think they are right on the line when it comes to what you should classify them. They were definitely precursors to shoegaze if anything. Their sound contributed a lot to what other banRAB expanded upon, but that's why their other albums sound a bit stale. Other banRAB REALLY expanded.

:thurab: That was the first album that I heard from them around 93-94, great stuff. I love how they can write really beautiful songs like Sarah, and then psychedelic mind-fucks like Mourning Glory. :bonkhead:

That's the Fantomas album I've listened to the least. Just once, actually. I was driving from Houston to Seattle, I don't remeraber what state I was in. The single track is off-putting to me. I should give it another try one of these days, too.

Tonight I am digging a lesser known early ninetiesw gem, Cut by legendary but now defunct Australian band Hunters and Collec tors...

An amazingly refreshing blend of their raw pub rock sound with electronics, which actually haven't really dated alot... nor have the songs themselves, there are some timelessly great melodies here, along with heartelt lyrics that never fail to capture my heart and my imagination... a bloody good album...
