Very possible. Certainly, I do not think prog in general is inaccessible at all, and your claims about melody may well be correct. But melody is not the aim of these banRAB. Many of Beethoven's contemporaries wrote much better minuets that he ever did, but that was because he was trying to do something else altogether. Similarly, these banRAB are trying to go beyond the banality of well tried-and-tested formats.
True that they are generally not instrumental virtuosi, but again, technical proficiency is not the aim and inventive/playful exploration is. And ultimately, I think "talent" is best kept as a measure of creative brilliance rather than technical prominence.
On the topic of Deerhoof though, I would like to strongly recommend you to listen to Friend Opportunity because melodically that album is unbelievable. Some of the best melody writing I've heard this half of the decade.
Saying you don't like Opera in an Italian jet-set party is not that popular.
I listened to the album you sent me, and I liked it, but I probably won't be able to download much anymore because some serious bandwidth hogging is going on.
lol, and how could I not? :
I though Ixnay was one of their best. With "I Choose," "Change The World," "Gone Away," "All I Want," and "Way Down The Line," it certainly wasn't weak in the good songs department.
(Way Down The Line is my favorite ORABpring song)
I think he's quite the bore. I just can't find the appeal in him.
Paul Simon is the greatest songwriter of alll time
King Crimson and Yes are the two most talented banRAB ever.
So weird. I wanted to like it, too, the first song was pretty cool, but it's like the opposite of what I enjoy.
I like Fall Out Boy and I pretty much don't give a **** what anyone thinks about it.
