I dislike the band, but I can't deny the guy's talent. My favorite bassist* would be Joe Loeffler from Chevelle.

Tim Commerford this guy plays bass that makes you want to :dj:
Do you by any chance post on DDD under the name Mior?
Sting is a pretty underrated bassist, wouldn't say he was one of the best, but then again i named Krist Novoselic as a honorable mention.
Though i would put Sting and Novoselic in the same catagory, 2 bassists who from a technical standpoint were not impressive at all and were average at best, but nonetheless they were very creative and made some great lines, neither are really top 50 though, i only mentioned Novoselic because i know that no one else will, i think people dont cut him enough slack, but yeah, i expect to get a lot of flaming for that, not that i care.
Yeah, Jaco Pastorius is amazing. People always mention Wooten, but remain ignorant of who actually inspired Wooten (Pastorius).
Peter Hook and Kim Deal, they've done some of my favorite baselines.
Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE)
Peter Hook (Joy Division)
Dave Allen (Gang of Four)
Chris Gates (Big Boys)
Rob Wright (Nomeansno)
Norwood Fisher (Fishbone)
I love Feildy's Bass playing style but the best bass player of all time is Cliff Burton of Metallica. And if you don't believe me watch the film on him called Cliff em All.
so, why every band put the bass players.. if the bass players not too important... can you give the reason?
Ok im a huge Led Zeppelin fan and love john paul jones...but geddy lee was just more original
