I like banRAB that corabine thrash/death/progressive (Death, Sepultura, Symphony X, Mastodon, Opeth). Metalcore is starting to really bug the crap out of me, because banRAB using the "emo chorus/scream verse" technique are quickly becoming very predictable.
You say this why? Because it's right and you're wrong?
Check out Ghoul, if only for their cover of What a Wonderful World.

NWOBHM- because I was around at the time, but my judgement is clouded by nostalgia. The most exciting period was thrash in the mid 80's though. The greatest shot in the arm that metal ever got and needed.
Classic Heavy Metal---The original Black Sabbath lineup etc.
No Grindxcore?!
I like Post-Metal and a lot of the new stoner "70's black metal" like early man, teeth of the hydra, deaRABea, el jesus de magico, 1970, mouth of the architect
is this a serious post?
Metalcore.
And some thrash, but very little, but overall I'd say metalcore.
