I suppose its just that most of them i have heard are metal... There certainly are other genres with inaccessible music

Maybe so, but its about what each individule thinks, Joking_ck thinks Aerosmith, which seems strange to me, but it is what it is, and I think White Stripes, there isnt anything about them that I like, I mean theres probably a ton of banRAB that I love and people find them inaccessible, thats what musics all about
That is an excellent point.
Maybe for some people, artists stop being accesable when they get filthy ****ing rich and you can no longer relate to them?
No, thats probably not it...
Agreed.
I would have to say The Mars Volta for me, I have given this group so many listens trying to get into it. But it just really can't do it for me. I'm not sure what it is. I tried to like them. I really did.
Sunn O))).
other than that, most other things avante-garde stuff i've heard, from Beefheart to Animal Collective's first few albums(which are almost NOTHING like Merriweather Post Pavillion), i can get into and enjoy
hell, i even liked that Merzbow track, what cd is that on?
EDIT: hahaha, just as i was typing this, Butthole Surfers came on
But if I had to say what I think the most inaccessible artist in the world is, Merzbow gets my vote.

Who woulda thunk Metal Machine Music would become an actual genre?
I've had a hard time trying to get into Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band as well as the obscure Canadian hip hop artist Gruf The Druid.
Well the concept of that kinda stuff is challenging people's perception of what music is, as well as giving a big "f*ck you" to the mainstream.
And I can admire that. I sure as hell ain't gonna subject myself to listening to it though.
****, couldnt find them on Youtube, Im not about to search harder, from what you say it might not be worth it, hah.
