I'm surprised. You went for the transitional piece to start. Where to now that you're in the middle? Later or more recent?
Choose wisely.

It's pretty hard to say any of their stuff is weak, because none of it actually is... there is definite progression from album to album but each record offers strong material of a different nature...
6 that I could find and I've ordered them all.
I wish I could see Tool on acid. I suppose I could have if I was in the habit of attending shows more often back in those days. Could have even seen them during the Undertow tour in a smaller venue! :banghead:
I still need Salival but it's hard to get it new. I have a bid on a used one on a Dutch eBay like site. Hope I get it.
boo boo, you are not the only person that thinks Jones is an amazing guitarist. If you read a few posts back, you'll see that he makes me blubber like a little bitch sometimes.
wayfarer, I completely agree on Maynard. He's a cocky son of a bitch these days. As for J.C's riRAB - this might be kind of a given but "Disposition"? Oh, fuck yes. EDIT: I forgot about "Intension"! Another song that showcases the bass. I think he is the most discredited meraber of Tool.
What do you guys think of Paul d'Amour's work with them? Well, I guess in a more general way of asking - older Tool? Undertow? Opiate?
And Antonio, I think you should start with [I]
Well if it was Aenima, then their chronology is way off. When did that come out, 95/96? If its nu-metal riRAB, then he ought to be praised for creating them.
Yay, it's pretty uncommon for somebody to pick up 10,000 and like it without having heard other Tool stuff as 10,000 is one of the most difficult to get into IMO. If you like it though, most definitely check out Lateralus next.
Boy, I've slowly grown out of Tool. They're like, smart music for durab people. I'm not calling their fans durab, but people take Tool too seriously sometimes.
Also, Isis and Neurosis are both >>> Tool
I appreciate the complexity / technical prowess of their music, but that would be all rather pointless if it didn't MOVE me... and ****, you gotta take your hat ofrf to a band that can play all that complicated music and still have you feeling such a strong emotional response... whether its the philosophy of Lateralus or 10000 Days or the armageddon storytelling of Aenema... the band illicits such a strong and evocative response, you can't help but be amazed. I love'em...
