In this story daughter and mom vacation in asian country possibly Thailand. Mom dies and gets cremated. Daughter goes to pick up ashes and finds she is being misled. Daughter goes to local cop to no avail....but romance ensues. Turns out she is being made a patsy. American government is planning assassination of probably American dignitary like Sec of State...they need her for patsy so they can inflame relations with Asian country for some nefarious agenda....hence the disappearing mother thingy.
