So basicly the ending is just like the ending of Gurren Lagann. Which series came first?

But this series is one of the more darker series I have seen. They didn't hold back on their blood bath, and children were not excluded from the bath.

Trying to figure out who did what first in anime is a futile exercise, especially since very few current anime fans have seen anything older than 1995. Even an old guy like me who's seen more "old" than most can't give you an exact timeline. I'm quite sure there were a nuraber of 70s anime shows that featured similar endings.
